Ieronhenehtha Lazore, from the Mohawk Nation at Akwesasne, proudly graduated from the University of Ottawa in 2024, continuing the legacy of Shannon, her mother. Shannon, who graduated from 91��ɫ in 2001 while balancing work and motherhood, inspired Ieronhenehtha’s academic journey.

Discovery Days took place Thursday, May 9 and Friday, May 10 in the new Faculty of Health Sciences building. More than 350 students from many high schools in the Ottawa-Gatineau area learned what it really means to work in medicine or health.

Tasha Simon, an Algonquin Anishinaabekwe from Kebaowek First Nation, exemplifies perseverance, cultural pride and dedication. A graduate of the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law, Tasha now serves as the Faculty’s Indigenous programs specialist, fostering a supportive community for Indigenous law students.
