Crisis Management Training equips participants with the skills to recognize, manage, and safely de-escalate anxious, aggressive, or violent behavior in clinical settings as soon as they arise.

Crisis Management Training certificates are only valid for one year and the deadlines for submission may vary according to the program and year of study. Please refer to your program鈥檚 clinical requirements and deadlines page.

Only two types of certifications are accepted to fulfill the requirement:

  1. Crisis Management and De-escalation Techniques Training (CMDT) by BMS:
    • Valid for one year
    • Only offered through Algonquin College
    • Certification is delivered via a hybrid model (self-lead online training followed by an in-person component).

  2. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) by CPI:
    • Valid for one year
    • Only offered through certain employers (i.e hospital settings)
    • Must include modules 1-8 (including physical holds and disengagement techniques).
