Planetary Health
The University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Medicine has earned an improved grade of B—up from a C+—in the 2024–2025 Planetary Health Report Card, reflecting significant progress in integrating planetary health into medical education and research.

This year’s efforts include the introduction of a longitudinal planetary health curriculum, set to expand annually across multiple years. Faculty and students, under the leadership of Dr. Husein Moloo, continue to advance interdisciplinary research, with the new Planetary Health Lab fostering collaborations across disciplines.

Key achievements also include improved support for student-led initiatives, though further steps are needed to enhance community outreach and partnerships. Recommendations for the upcoming year focus on incorporating Indigenous perspectives into the curriculum, expanding sustainability practices at the medical school level, and strengthening community engagement in planetary health initiatives.

Special thanks to Dr. Husein Moloo, director of planetary health, and the contributing team, including students Stephanie Howe, Alex Sy, Shaoni Chakraborty, and Anya Kylas for their dedication to planetary health.
