Dr. Kousaie鈥檚 general research interests are in the interaction between language and cognition in terms of brain structure and function.

She is particularly interested in the impact of language experience and bilingualism on language processing and cognitive function. She uses behavioural, electrophysiological (electroencephalography; EEG) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI; structural, functional, and resting state) measures in her research, and her experimental paradigms capitalize on the unique strengths of each of these methods.
