Hamelin Hall is a five-storey building that opened in 1996. The building was named after Dr. Marcel Hamelin, who worked for five decades at the University of Ottawa as, among other things, a history professor, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and President and Vice-Chancellor. Hamelin Hall is home to the Faculty of Arts and the associated Classical and Religious Studies department, the School of Translation and Interpretation, Modern Languages and Literatures, Philosophy, English, Linguistics, the Centre for Language Learning, and the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute.
