The book features voices from 16 lesbians of various generations, cultures, and social backgrounds, who share their personal journeys, challenges, and aspirations. It shines a light on narratives often left in the margins—such as those of immigrants from the African diaspora and researchers from the Global South (Italy and Brazil)—while celebrating the creativity, clarity, and resilience shown in the face of adversity.
Through this publication, continues her commitment to feminist, decolonial, and materialist research, offering a space for reflection on lesbian love, minority groups memory, and social transformation. The collection includes presentations from a conference hosted by the Lesbian Archives of Quebec in June 2024, as well as an exclusive interview with comic book artist and animation filmmaker Diane Obomsawin.
Daring Lesbian Love also explores the contemporary challenges facing lesbians in the age of neoliberalism, digital capitalism and the dematerialization of spaces for socializing. The volume closes with a reflection on today’s perceptions of lesbian love and an overview of lesbian analyses since the 1970s.
After its launch at the Lesbian Archives of Quebec in Montreal in February, the book will be presented at Violette and Co in Paris on July 18.
